Belleair Beach Bridge Construction

The new bridge replaces the old drawbridge which was built in 1950. Malfunctions in the mechanisms and frequent weekend openings for large vessels are a thing of the past.

The new spans will be designed high enough for all marine traffic to pass under in a wide deep channel.

Work on the intracoastal waterway bridge began in April of 2007. The 72 Million Dollar project was completed in 2010.

The project includes two new spans using the poured cement pylons as were used in the Clearwater Memorial Causeway Bridge.
